Eyes Wide Open Exhibits in Ft. Wayne Citizens remember soldiers on Memorial Day
Eyes Wide Open, the American Friends Service Committee’s exhibition on the human cost of the Iraq War will be on view May 29 & 30, 2006 at Franke Park, 3411 N. Sherman Blvd, Fort Wayne, IN. Returning to Indiana after two years, the exhibit features a pair of boots honoring each U.S. military casualty, a field of shoes and a Wall of Remembrance to memorialize the Iraqis killed in the conflict, and a multimedia display exploring the history, cost and consequences of the war. Take Action! Join forces with local peace groups to plant 2,500 flags for peace. Peace Groups Collaborate to Honor the Dead when the Casualties Reach 2,500. Veterans for Peace, Indianapolis Peace and Justice Center and Hoosiers For Peace join forces to exhibit one American Flag for each soldier who has lost his/her life in the war in Iraq. Organizers predict that this exhibit will be installed at during the first half of June (either the first or second Saturday). Date and location to be announced. Win Without War Launches Campaign to Call for War Debate U.S. Representative Julia Carson supports proposal
 
House Resolution 543 that calls for an immediate seventeen-hour debate where all alternatives to the Bush war are allowed onto the floor for consideration and vote is being promoted by Indiana Congressional Representative Julia Carson. A national grassroots organization called Win Without War has launched a campaign to support congressional debate. Pasta for Peace, a state-wide fundraising event on June 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. will bring together people from all over Indiana to talk about peace and share ideas in the beautiful and peaceful setting of The Peace and Learning Center in Eagle Creek Park.
