On Sunday, March 20, 2005 more than 200 people gathered on the Soldiers and Sailors Monument Circle to protest two years of war in Iraq. The rally marked the end of the Midwest Peace Summit, hosted by the Students of Peace in Iraq and sponsored by the Indianapolis Peace and Justice Center. This year’s summit is scheduled for April 7-9, 2006

Fort Wayne, IN – Fort Wayne Peace Action sponsors a vigil to protest the War in Iraq the first Saturday of every month from noon to 1 p.m. on Clinton St. between Main and Berry. For more information go to www.fortwaynepeace.com.

Indianapolis, IN – The Women in Black invite women to join them on the first Friday of each month for a silent protest on the north side of Monument Circle from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. WIB is interested in promoting peace in Palestine and Israel and asks that protesters wear black to show their position of sorrow at the current unrest. Current activities include supporting U.S. House Concurrent Resolution 35, which calls for an end to the occupation by developing and implementing a plan for immediate removal of U.S. forces from Iraq. Ft. Wayne 
The Eyes Wide Open National Guard Memorial, with a pair of combat boots representing each American soldier killed in Iraq, will be on display on Monday May 29 at Franke Park Pavilion #1, 3411 N. Sherman Blvd., sponsored by Ft Wayne Peace Action, Unitarian Congregation, Ft Wayne Friends, IPFW Peace & Conflict Studies, Peace & Justice Commission of Assoc Churches, Beacon Heights Church of Brethren, Indiana Veterans for Peace, St. Francis University Just Peace, and Gold Star Families.
